Nevada was one of the states missing on our "where we have traveled map" that graces the back of Wander Yonder II. We discovered that you know you are in Nevada when every gas station is a casino and the speed limit is 80 mph!
This trip we wanted to experience some real Nevada. We traveled the Joshua Tree Road that passes through the Mojave (both in Arizona and Nevada) on our way to California but we wanted more than a "drive through". We decided to utilize our Harvest Hosts and our Boondocker's Welcome memberships to make it a more personal experience.
Our first stop was at Lattin Farms in Fallon, Nevada. It was cold, rainy, and windy when we arrived and we were really happy to be there. Coming across Donner Pass on I-80 with rain and some sleet with tractor trailers zooming past was a nail biting experience. Lattin Farms is a large farm that is also a venue for parties and weddings. They have some interesting animals and birds and even a display of antique farming equipment. We were able to get fresh asparagus, yummy banana bread and some strawberry rhubarb jam. We had a very quiet night's rest and awoke the next morning to sunshine!
We traveled on to our next stop, a Boondocker's Welcome site, in Spring Creek, Nevada. Our host, Susan and her teenage daughter greeted us with an information packet on the local area. She has space for two boondockers and the other family arrived a few hours after us. They were a really nice couple with two young boys who are trying their hand at full-timing. It was quite interesting that this was the third same Boondocker's Welcome site we had both used in the past couple of weeks.
While our host was really nice and we loved meeting the other family, the true prize at Spring Creek is the views. The view from Wander was probably the most incredible we have had and the sunsets were like nothing either of us have ever experienced before.

That sunset is phenomenal!
